Erdogan follows in Trump's footsteps. Set a date for "Defeat Corona"

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed Wednesday that his country will overcome the outbreak of the coronavirus in two to three weeks through good measures while minimizing the damage, while Ankara has extended the closure of schools until April 30th.

Erdogan's speech comes after Trump said at the crisis cell press conference to confront Corona on Tuesday evening: "We will try to defeat the Coronavirus by Easter next month."

The number of MERS-CoV deaths in Turkey jumped to 15 to 59 on Wednesday, and the number of confirmed cases increased by 561 to 2,433. Some 33,000 tests have been conducted in Turkey in two weeks since the outbreak began.

"We have preparations for each scenario by breaking the speed of the virus outbreak in two or three weeks, we will pass this period as quickly as possible and with minimal damage," Erdogan said in a televised address to the Turkish people.

Erdogan added that he expects patience, understanding, and support from the Turks for these measures.

"The bright days await us, as long as we comply with the warnings and be careful. The life of every citizen has the same value for us. That's why we say 'Pack your homes in Turkey'."
