With the alarming spread of the emerging coronavirus in most countries of the world, the disease has broken into Malaysia's royal palace, injuring 7 staff there.
The royal palace said Thursday that the king and queen of Malaysia are under quarantine, while seven staff members were taken to hospital on Tuesday, and health authorities are trying to determine the source of the transmission.
King Sultan Sultan Sultan Ahmad Shah and his wife Tunku Aziza Amina Maimuna Alexandria were tested for the virus and the results were negative, the palace said.
He said the royal couple decided to undergo quarantine for 14 days from Wednesday, with a deep disinfection procedure at the palace.
Malaysia, which had 21 deaths and the highest total number of cases in Southeast Asia in 1796, extended its closure for another two weeks until April 14.
